It's hardly news that Greenwich Park has been slated by the Olympic powers-that-be for the equestrian events in 2012. Good thing/bad thing? Probably bad for many residents and park lovers. Could be good for Greenwich businesses - if only fleetingly.
Well the whole thing's up in the air again - like everything in Greenwich at the moment. Tessa Jowell, the Olympics minister, has called for an investigation into the viability of the park as an equestrian venue (click here to see the Guardian's report of the 29th August), among others.
Anyone considering a redevelopment in Greenwich at the moment may be somewhat influenced by the uncertainty.

In recent years I've become aware of a decline in the market – in its variety of quality goods, its energy, the mood of its traders and its atmosphere. External events have brought it low; internal attacks even lower. Its future is threatened by even more destructive forces. It may be too late, but I love Greenwich Market and I won't see it destroyed because I couldn't be bothered to try to save it.

Happy as well as it seems that the redevelopment has been put off until the end of 2009 (?)Do you know any more about this ?

Joff hopes to be back in Greenwich on Sunday the 9th of November & to ride up Durnford street into Greenwich craft market at 1pm.
Don't know if anything is being planned to welome him back.
